Qi

The concept of Qi (气) is often vague, yet it is central to many traditions, especially in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Qi is the vital energy that flows through your body, influencing your physical health, mental clarity, and emotional well-being.

Two Forms of Qi

There are two main types of Qi:

  1. Visible Qi – It could be the air (Kong Qi 空气) we breathe, the energy from the environment that fuels our body.

  2. Invisible Qi – This is the internal movement of energy within your body, supporting digestion, circulation, and cognitive function.

Think of Qi as the gasoline in a car. If the tank is empty, no matter how hard you press the accelerator, the car won’t move. Similarly, if your body lacks Qi, you may feel exhausted and unmotivated, no matter how much you try to push through.

Signs of Qi Deficiency & Qi Imbalance

Have you ever wondered why you experience:

  • Easily fatigued – Feeling drained even after rest?

  • Irritability, frustration, or frequent anger – Struggling to stay calm?

  • Poor appetite & bloating after meals – Digestive discomfort?

  • Constipation or alternating diarrhea/constipation – Irregular bowel movements?

  • Brain fog & difficulty concentrating – Trouble focusing?

  • Restlessness, overthinking & excessive worry – Feeling mentally overwhelmed?

These symptoms may be indicators of Qi deficiency or imbalance. When Qi is weak or not flowing properly, it can disrupt digestion, emotional stability, and mental clarity.

How Can You Check Your Qi Levels?

In TCM, Qi levels can be diagnosed through pulse reading, tongue examination, and the 10-question diagnostic method. These techniques help identify whether your Qi is sufficient, stagnant, or deficient, allowing for a personalized approach to restoring balance.

If you resonate with any of the symptoms above, it might be time to check in on your Qi. Book an appointment to gain deeper insights into your energy levels and overall well-being. Let’s find out how much Qi is in your body and take the steps needed to revitalize your health!
